Mrs. Newman has been an educator for 30 years. She began her career as a German teacher in the North Olmsted City School District, North Olmsted, Ohio in 1965 teaching 7th-9th grade students.
She has spent the past 20 years of her career as the Library Media Specialist for the Polaris Career Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.  Her teaching responsibilities have included teaching information literacy skills, collaborating with teachers to develop and teach technology skills and research techniques, and maintaining a website for the research center at Polaris. Mrs. Newman received her Master’s in Library Science from Case Western Reserve University and her Bachelor’s in German and History from Heidelberg College.  Her current certification is in K-12 German and K-12 library science.  Mrs. Newman has continued her education with an interest in technology and has worked with teachers to help them develop their technology skills.  She served as the chairperson for the WVIZ Public Television Advisory Council in 1998.  She has been a member of the Ohio Education Library Media Association for many years.  Mrs. Newman contributed to the Middle School College & Career Room.
