Kathryn Halsey has been an educator for 31 years. She began her career as a middle school English teacher in the Huber Heights City School District, Huber Heights, Ohio in 1976 teaching 7th grade students. Kathryn has spent the past 7 years of her career as the Intermediate School Library Media Specialist for the Canal Winchester Local School District in Canal Winchester, Ohio. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in English Education from The Ohio State University in 1975 and earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Supervision from Wright State University in 1985. She continued her studies at Wright State University, obtaining K-12 library certification in 1992. Kathryn’s career highlights include: 1987 Teacher of the Year, Huber Heights City Schools, 2001-02 Jennings Scholar, 2002 Library Leadership Ohio Institute, and the 2005 OELMA Bound to Stay Bound Award. Kathryn serves on the Buckeye Children’s Book Award Council and is currently a Central Region Director of the Ohio Educational Library Media Association. Ms. Halsey contributed to the Middle School Children & Young Adult Literature Room
