Gayle Schmuhl has been an educator or 23 years.  She began her career as a library/media specialist for Keystone Local Schools in Lagrange, Ohio in 1983 and elementary library media coordinator for grades K-8 and teaching computer science to grades 7-8.  She has spent the last 15 years with the Berea City School District as a library/media specialist at Parknoll/Riveredge Elementary Schools in Berea, Ohio and most recently at Ford Middle School, Brook Park, Ohio.  Her responsibilities include supervision of library assistants, coordinating building technology including audio/visual services, teaching information literacy skills, webmaster for the building website, and consulting with teachers.  She received a Bachelor’s in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1982 and a Masters in Library Science from Kent State University in 1986 with K-12 library/media certification. She has taken additional graduate courses at Kent State University, Ashland University, and Syracuse University.  She received the Betty Cope Award for Exemplary Service from the WVIZ Advisory Council in 2006 where she was also a past Chairperson for the Advisory Council in 2001.  She is a member of the American Library Association, American Association of School Librarians, and the Ohio Educational Library Media Association. Gayle contributed to the Middle School Using the Library Room.
