Mr. Beckman has been involved in secondary school education since 1989. He began his career as a Social Studies teacher, teaching 10th and 11th grade World History, US History, and Advanced Placement US History. After 9 years in the classroom, he moved to his present position as High School Librarian. As a librarian, he collaborates with teachers of all disciplines to create lessons that support the curriculum and develop research skills. In addition, he provides support and assistance to both teachers and students in utilizing library resources such as print sources, electronic resources, and computer software applications. Mr. Beckman received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard College in 1967 and received a Masters in Library and Information Science from Kent State University in 1995. He is certified in Comprehensive Social Studies 7-12 and Library/Media grades K-12. He is a former member of the National Council of Social Studies and a present member of the American Library Association, the American Association of School Librarians, and the Ohio Educational Library Media Association. Mr. Beckman contributed to the High School Geography Room.
