Leslie Smith has been an educator for 20 years in the Twinsburg City School District. She has taught Title One Reading, 4th and 6th grade, and will be starting her 13th year as a 3rd grade teacher in 2006. She has a self contained classroom and enjoys the challenge of teaching all subjects to students with a variety of ability levels. Leslie earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Education from Muskingum College in 1979 and a Masters in Education with a Supervisory Certificate from Kent State University in 1995. She also earned her National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist in 2001. She has continued her education through numerous graduate courses with a focus on curriculum and science instruction. In addition to numerous district and county responsibilities for aligning and correlating science and math objectives, Leslie has served as a facilitator for SIRI reading instruction and OSCI science instruction. She has also been active as a presenter and facilitator for Kent State University’s ILILE program promoting the benefits of teacher/librarian collaboration. Ms. Smith contributed to the Elementary School Science in the world Room.
